Kumbha Sankranti

According to the Hindu Calendar, Kumbha Sankranti marks the beginning of the eleventh month (Phalgun). It signifies the transaction of sun from the Capricorn constellation (Makar Rashi) to Aquarius constellation (Kumb Rashi).

According to Malayalam Calendar, Kumbha Sankranti marks the beginning of Kumbha Masam. In Karnataka, This festival is famous as Masi Masam. Similarly, According to Bangali calender, Kumbha Sankranti marks the beginning of Falgun Maas.

In 2015, Kumbha Sankranti falls on the 13th Feburary (Friday). The Punya Kaal Muhurta for Kumbha Sankranti during 2015 will last from 07:05 to 08:33. During this, the Mahapunya Kaal Muhurta will last for 23 minutes and this would start from 08:09 and last till 08:33.

On this auspicious day, the world’s biggest and the most auspicious religious gathering held at the bank of the confluence of three rivers in Allahabad.
