There are various rivers in our country India and the Ganga river is one of them, which is a divine river in not only India but also amongst the most sacred rivers all over the world. This is a universal fact and it is believed by all Indians and savants of the world. This river is worshiped like a Goddess and it is believed that it was the tenth day of Jyeshta Hindu month when she was incarnated on earth from heaven. The day is popularly known by the name of “Ganga Dussehra” and celebrated as “Ganga Dussera Festival”. On the same day, A Suryavanshi king named Bhagirath got success to bring down the river to earth after a lot hard work and penance. Since that time, the occasion is celebrated as the Ganga Dussehra by performing several rites and rituals on the bank of the Ganga.

The Significance of Ganga Dussehra Festival 

 

When river Ganga brought down to earth that occasion was obliged with rare ten Vedic astrological calculations. The Jyeshtha month, Shukla Paksha (bright half), Tenth date, Wednesday, Hasta Nakshatra, Vyatipata yoga, Gar Anand Yog and Moon in Virgo and Sun in Tauras, all these ten Yogas absorbed all the ten sins by taking a bath in river Ganga on Ganga Dussehra.In 2016, the Ganga Dussehra festival will be celebrated on 14th June (Tuesday).

In these ten sins are proclaimed  as three are organic, four verbal and three are mental. Organic means the sins conducted by the heavenly body, for example, fetch anything from others forcibly, violence, contact with another woman. Verbal sins are like to speak harsh words, tell a lie, complain to others and Irrelevant rambling and to occupy others assets, desire to harm others and discussions on irrelevant topics are considered as the top most mental sins. According to present conditions, each and every person avoid involving in such activities as they are considered as the biggest sins in Hindu mythology, but still if occur mistakenly then can demolish by just take a holy bath in the Ganga river on the occasion of Ganga Dessehra.
