Yogini Ekadashi Vrat 2016 = 30 June (Thursday)

In Hinduism, Yogini Ekadashi is the most auspicious occasion for Hindus. The belief to celebrate Yogini Ekadashi is to clean themselves of all past sins and to conduct their life in more effective manner in the future. This auspicious day is vital for such people who are magnetized by essentialism or materialism and need them to be encouraged towards the path of spirituality. It is observed as the most iconic days of fasting in the most sacred way. Yogini Ekadashi Vrat Katha provides the benefits obtained from it and most probably occurring in the bright half of the Jyeshtha month (between May and June).

The official treasurer of the Gods, Raja Kubera was the ruler of Alakapuri moreover this, he was also a hard boiled devotee of Lord Shiva. Hemamali was a Yaksha gardener of Kubera who was attracted to his wife Swarupavati due to her beautiful eyes. Performing his daily routine duty of collecting flowers from Manasarovar lake for Kubera to perform Lord Shiva Puja, One day Hemamali ignored his duty after getting involved deeply with the feelings of Swarupavati. Not getting the sufficient flowers on that day, Kubera sends another Yaksha to find out the appropriate reason for the delay.

Later, Hemamali was summoned in front of Kubera, after that she gets enraged and curses him with severe consequences. In conclusion, he was made to suffer from leprosy and was ordered to leave the place immediately. After deporting from Alakapuri, he found himself between dense forest. Though he was left that place due to insult, but he never stopped worshipping Lord Shiva. By reaching the Himalayan range during his spiritual journeys, he had come in contact with Markandeya Rishi. After meeting the rishi, Hemamali explains his story about his past happenings. Deeply influenced by the sad story of the leper, Markandeya Rishi recommended him to observe fast on Yogini Ekadashi to clean his bad karma and sins.

Saying the truth, he had helped the leper in a comprehensive way because of which it had been possible to find the best way of his life. Hemamali offered thanks to the rishi after praying to his feet with param obligation. Later, he continued worshipping to Lord Shiva and observed a fast as told by the Rishi. After washing off his sins in an effective manner, Hemamali goes back to Alakapuri to lead a happy married life with his wife again.
