The auspicious occasion Mithuna Sankranti is observed when the Sun is moving into another planet called Mithuna or Gemini. It is popularly known as Mithuna Sankramanam in South India. According to Hindu customs and traditions, it is respected as a most providential festival. The people in Orissa celebrate this festival by the name of “Raja Sankranti”, a four day occasion having various activities. The festival Mithuna Sankranti is marked as the offensive of the agricultural year all over Odisha by the name of 'Raja Parba'. Especially, the people welcome the first rains authoritatively by solemnizing this festival.

As we know that Mithuna Sankranti is celebrated for four days because of an engrossing historical illustration associated with it. According to Indian customs and traditions, on this festival, the unmarried girls dressed up in beautiful clothes and celebrate the Raja Parba gathering with their friends and families. The Raja Dholi Khela is an engrossing event observed as a part of the festival across the Odisha. During this festival, the girls wishing for good husband get onto the swings. Traditionally, the girls sing Raja Gita and other play card games and Ludo.

This four-day festival starts with the first day celebrated as Pahili Raja. Several traditional activities are organized such as oscillating upon various swings named as Ram Doli, the Dandi Doli and so on. The second day is observed as Raja, which is simply known as Mithuna Sankranti. The Basi Raja is the third day, which marks the ending of menstruation period.

Vasumati Bath – A Prayer to Bhudevi


On the final day of Mithuna Sankranti, the people wear the traditional Odiya costumes by sowing their obligation to Goddess Earth. In local Goddess Earth is known by the name of Bhudevi, the devotees perform special Pujas to get her blessings apart from a sacred bath to a grinding stone. Probably, the stone is paying attention to be a model of Bhudevi that people consider to celebrate.

It is decorated with turmeric powder, different flowers, sandalwood, and vermilion beautifully. The festival provides the special significance to nature and womenfolk in a direct fashion. On this occasion, as a way the earth gets ready to gain early rainfall, the young girls are known to get ready for a perfect matrimonial alliance.

Everyone looks eager to celebrate the particular event of tying rope swings to banyan trees to have a good time for their relatives and families. World Blood Donor Day 14th June, 2016


All the people in the world have Blood in their body. The blood connects people to each other and each & every animal living on earth has blood as a lifeline. In present time, the world is facing the problem of blood stock deficiency and it is the main cause threat to life. The blood transfusion is the only way to remove this blood deficiency. Globally, everyone should contribute his own responsibility to donate blood for fulfilling the increasing need for blood and we should motivate others for blood donation.

The commitment and support were declared unanimously in the 58th World Health Assembly for unconstrained blood donation. After that, a proposal was passed 14th June as "World Blood Donor Day". On the same day, it was also committed that this will be observed as an annual event to be held each year. The day 14th June aware the people about the importance of blood donation and encourage more and more people to donate blood regularly. It provides opportunity to enjoy and thanks to all individuals who voluntarily donate their blood without any reward.
 
A careful donor would be responsible for improving rather saving million lives. Each and every year World Blood Donor Day is observed on a particular theme. This year the theme will be "Give the gift of life: donate blood".


This exclusive day is supported by the World Health Organization (WHO), International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT), International Federation of Blood Donor Organizations (FIODS), International Federation of Red Cross, Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

Appoint the youth battalion for combating the blood deficiency instill safe and healthy lifestyles in them. They should provide their service as much as possible.

Various activities are performed on this day. There are various rivers in our country India and the Ganga river is one of them, which is a divine river in not only India but also amongst the most sacred rivers all over the world. Hindu Festival Mahesh Navami 2016

As we know that each community has its own customs and rituals for particular festival and the Maheswari community also has its rituals to celebrate ‘Mahesh Navami’. The festival Mahesh Navami is also known by the name of ‘Maheshwari Jayanti’. Mahesh Navami or Mahesh Jayanti is celebrated on the Ninth day (Navami) of Shukla Paksha in the month of June which is Jyeshtha Month according to Hindu calendar.
