My Lessons from Bhagwad Gita

The Bhagwad Gita – the world’s oldest known text, speaks to this truth. Ultimately, let go and let God and ALL is God (or oneness, divinity, universal energy, whatever term you would like to use). We are all one. If you’ve yet to read this book, pick up a copy and get ready for a timeless piece of art and knowledge that will be dog eared and weathered before you know it…
As said by the popular, "The idea that there is a goalis wrong. We are the goal; we are always peace. To get rid of the idea that we are not peace is all that is required."  - Ramana Maharshi, Hindu sage.
We live in times where spirituality is confused with religion, is mocked upon by most and is often termed 'futile' with remarks like, "It's so boring!", "Who has the time for all this?" and what not!
This poem contains so much knowledge, inspiring deep awe and wonder. It’s difficult to wrap it up into bullet points, but here are seven of my takeaways:

1) This physical world is a delusion. Do not fret, fear or ruminate. Hold fast to your awareness and practise the exact path your preach. One must keep his goals set straight and avoid the obstacles by attaining a clear and positive vision.

2) Work like there’s no tomorrow, without intending to worry about the results. Everything we do produces a certain result, but focussing on action is more important than the outcome.

3) By clear vision, positive action, consistent efforts and dedication, one can easily detach themselves from the result oriented demeanour, making it easier to reach the Supreme Soul.

4) Ensure the material things you allure are only an ephemeral escape to the reality. It is essential to overcome the lust, greed and temper and gain Moksha or salvation.

5) Work should be seriously performed without the intention of gaining a fruitful result. It is always the best practise to work seriously and follow good karma.

6) The notion of working for the society to uplift the poor and the needy thereby, serving the mankind is the most rewarding karma and selfish motives will always result in bringing defame.
